Abelard Werserian is the Seneschal of the Rogue Trader, and one of its companions.[1]
Background[]
A Seneschal is one the most important member of a Rogue Trader's crew, his right hand. He is trusted with the management of the Rogue Trader's affairs, including the day-to-day details of their trade empire.[1]
Decades before meeting the heir of the von Valancius dynasty, Abelard Werserian held the rank of first officer on the deck of a cruiser of the Navis Imperialis, and met Theodora von Valancius during a joint operation with her forces. Impressed with the diligent and imperious character of Werserian, she recruited him as her Seneschal.[1]
Gameplay[]
Werserian fit the role of a tank fighter.[2] He starts with the Warrior archetype, which focuses on melee combat. His origin is Navy Officer. He comes with a Level 2 Iconoclast conviction.
Recruitment[]
Abelard is the first companion the player gets. He is recruited automatically during the game's prologue. He is recruited at level 1, so the player controls all of his level-ups. He comes equipped with a Chainsword, a Flak Vest, and a Medikit.

The Seneschal is one of the player's Career Paths in the tabletop role-playing game Rogue Trader.[3]
Abelard Werserian was the first companion revealed with a name and a background story.[1] Previously, he could be spotted beside Theodora von Valancius and Idira Tlass in the Annoucement Teaser Trailer.[4]
He is voiced by British Actor Ian Russell[5]
