The Koronus Expanse is a dangerous and mostly unexplored region of space at the fringe of the Imperium of Man. It has already sealed the fate of many explorers before the Rogue Trader set course for it.[1] Currently several Rogue Traders compete for dominion over this region of space.[2]The region is home to the remnants of a few dead civilizations,[3] which should provide for interesting exploration opportunities.[4]
Events unfolding during the course of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader will provide a sense of increasing danger to the region,[3] which is under the threat of Drukhari raiders,[5] Word Bearers cults,[6] and Necrons.[7] Such events include the disappearance of a star.[5]
Behind the scenes[]
The Koronus Expanse is the setting of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader.[1] It was first introduced as the setting of Rogue Trader, a tabletop role-playing game released by Fantasy Flight Games in 2009.[8] Owlcat Games employee have been exploring the setting for several years during their internal tabletop role-playing sessions of Rogue Trader, at least since the development period of Pathfinder: Kingmaker, which let them appreciate the similarities between the Koronus Expanse and the Stolen Lands (the region players explore and settle in Kingmaker).[3]
